Oh wow. Interesting exploration of a possibility of correlation / causation. I'm hearing about hopecore for the first time. And its interesting that you have connected it with a real world phenomenon of recession. I have a slightly different take on it.
The rise of hopecore content might be an indication of upcoming recession, but I feel that it would instill hope in people (I did a short research on neuroeasthetics of hopecore music genre and how it uplifts the mood and promotes calm). I feel that more of this would counteract recession making people stay positive and continue with how they were living and not cut down as much in panic and go into a scarcity mindset, which would fuel the recession. "Hope is a coping mechanism" as you have mentioned, so this makes sense to me.
Now that we know crowd control and mass behaviour changes are possible through social media, I wouldn't be surprised to know that this could even be a carefully manufactured trend than an organic one.
Ok enough of conspiracies. :D
I really liked the exploration of internet culture - digital or cyber ethnography, as i found out its called. Thanks for exploration of different topics and looking forward for the next one, in the "hope" that it'll be as good as this. No pressure though. :D
I really like this take. More optimistic and less cynicism than what I wrote :D

--Oh definitely. At least that's what the Netflix documentaries told us.

--Disagree. Conspiracies are so fun!
Thanks so much! My hope meter is pretty low atm for the next one xD
